The holiday soap molds are coming out!

Join us inside our working soap shop for an afternoon of real cold process soapmaking and get an early start on making something special for the holidays.

We'll explore the traditional cold process method and the fascinating chemistry that transforms plant oils and lye into soap. You'll learn about soapmaking oils, lye safety, trace, botanical colorants, essential oils, pouring and curing.

Then it's your turn to make your own soap.

You'll make:

Approximately 1¼ pounds of your own plant-based cold process soap.

Choose your botanical color and essential-oil blend, then fill your favorites from our collection of holiday and winter soap molds until your batter is gone.

Depending on the molds you choose, you'll leave with an assortment of individual handmade soaps—perfect for enjoying at home or giving as holiday gifts once they've finished curing.

What happens to my soap after class?

Fresh cold process soap needs time to become firm enough to unmold.

Your soaps will stay with us at The Fay Farm until they're ready to come out of their molds. You'll return to the shop to pick them up, along with instructions for completing the curing process at home.

By starting in October, your soaps will have plenty of time to cure before holiday gift giving.

This workshop is open to ages 12 and up.

For participants under age 18, the sodium hydroxide solution will be prepared by the instructor. All participants will receive soapmaking safety instruction and use appropriate safety equipment throughout the workshop.
